Auction Tips
|
| JanesDeals has several tips to share with auction buyers and sellers. |
| |
| 1. Fraudulent orders
are increasing as cyber criminals worldwide find the Internet an easy target
for using fake identities. Internet fraudsters are using the eBay auction website
to solicit payments from successful auction bidders. Read about
Ebay Fraud |
| |
| 2. Paypal is not
to be trusted. Paypal's seller protection program is not a safe guard against fraud. Anyone
with a email address can open a paypal account under a different identity
and claim the order was never received. Before you choose Paypal as your
payment gateway see what others have to say at
NoPaypal.com. |
| |
| 3. Do not ship to an address that does not match the billing address of the cardholder. Beware of buyers who rush you to
ship orders the same day or buyers placing multiple orders for high ticket items.
|
| |
|
|
| |
| 4. Beware of incoming auction payments
from free email addresses like hotmail and yahoo. Free Email addresses are non-traceable and makes it easy for scam artists to get away with identity fraud. Legitimate businesses have real company names, phone numbers and email addresses.
|
| |
| 5. If you are an auction seller
accepting credit cards, make sure you require a signature from the cardholder and
a copy of a valid drivers license. It is too easy for ebay scammers to punch in
stolen card numbers or later claim they did not place the order.
|
| |
| 6. Sign up fraud
screening service through Fraudscreen.net
to check fraud. Avoid transactions from users with high
fraud scores. Fraud scores are based on many factors including number of
credit card disputes filed. |
| |
| 7. Request a signed
confirmation of delivery on all orders. Fraudsters scout
the Internet for merchants who will ship without a signed confirmation of
delivery so they can later file a false claim that the order was not received. |
| |
| 8. Do not accept
telephone orders or credit cards from overseas. Make sure all orders are signed
and request a copy of a drivers license if the order is a higher amount than
normal or if multiple orders are placed by the same person. |
| |
| 9. Ebay fraud:
Search Ebay for keywords Seven for All Mankind and Rock and Republic and check the prices. If it is too good to be true beware! Read the Ebay sellers return policy and make sure you get everything in writing upfront! |
| |
| 10. Janesdeals cares
about our customers! We manually process each order and
hold funds in safekeeping until delivery - Read the
MSNBC Ebay Report. Janesdeals uses the latest fraud screen software and we require
signatures on all deliveries. All deals
are recorded and IP's are checked before processing. |
